





EAST ALTON — The East Alton-Wood River/Roxana hockey team fell to Highland 7-2 Tuesday evening in a game marked by early Highland dominance and consistent scoring throughout all three periods.
Highland opened the scoring at 10:46 of the first period when Luke Gunter put the puck past the EAWR/Roxana goalie. Highland extended its lead with a goal from Patton Weis, assisted by Jaxton Ohren, at 7:13 remaining in the first period. EAWR/Roxana responded with a goal from Caleb Solomon at 6:01, narrowing the gap to 2-1.
In the second period, Highland continued to build its advantage. Landon Hicks scored at 13:17, assisted by Jack Nimmo, followed by a goal from Cooper Hicks at 7:04, assisted by Jacob Reman. The period ended with Highland leading 4-1.
Highland maintained momentum in the third period with three additional goals. Luke Gunter scored his second goal unassisted at 13:26. Jaxton Ohren added a goal at 11:03, assisted by Kyson Hoyt and Gunter. Landon Hicks completed his second goal of the night at 3:06, assisted by Wyatt Rinderer, bringing the score to 7-1.
EAWR/Roxana managed to score again in the final seconds when Owen Timmins found the net with just nine seconds remaining.
