
PIASA — Josie Hagen, a senior athlete at Southwestern High School, has signed a letter of intent to play softball and attend Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville.
Hagen’s career batting average at Southwestern High is .328, with 83 hits and 77 RBI since her freshman year.
Josie is an Altonized Community Federal Credit Union Female Athlete of the Month for her recent signing recognition and her outstanding career with the Piasa Birds athletic program.
Hagen, who stands 5-foot-8, has been a key player for the Piasa Birds basketball team as a forward and is recognized for her strong rebounding abilities. In addition to basketball, she has contributed to the volleyball team as a right-side front row player.
Southwestern girls’ softball coach Amanda Edwards expressed her support and appreciation for Hagen and her commitment to continuing to play softball at the collegiate level. “
“We are always thankful for our players to continue on their softball talents in college,” Edwards said previously.
Piasa volleyball coach Derek Dempsey praised Hagen’s skills on the court, noting her reliable ball handling.
“She has good hands, sets the ball up well for setters, and has first contact. I trust her to get the ball to people,” Coach Dempsey said.
Hagen’s multi-sport involvement highlights her athletic versatility as she prepares to advance her softball career at Southwestern Illinois College.
