BOYS BASKETBALL
CALHOUN 66, WINCHESTER WEST CENTRAL 50: Calhoun led at the break 32-17, and went on to win over Winchester on the road.
Rodney Johnson led the Warriors with 17 points, with Lane Eilerman adding 15 points, Gage Kiel came up with 12 points, and Jack Zipprich scored 10 points.
Calhoun is now 4-0, while the Cougars are now 5-3.
COLUMBIA 59, ROXANA 58: Brady Landgraf’s basket at the buzzer was the winner for Columbia at home over Roxana.
Landgraf’s winner was the final piece in a 28-point performance, while Eddie Smajic added 18 points for the Eagles. The Shells were led by Cohen Dugan’s 21 points, while Aiden Stemm had 17 points, and Sean Maberry added 16 points.
Columbia goes to 5-2, with Roxana now at 8-2.
MASCOUTAH 69, O’FALLON 68: Mascoutah held a 44-31 lead after three quarters, but had to hold off a furious O’Fallon fourth-quarter rally to win at the OTHS Panther Dome.
Micah Griffin led the Indians with 19 points, while Brayden Watson had 18 points, and Austin Bramwell added 12 points.
Mascoutah is now 6-2, while the Panthers go to 2-7.
CARLINVILLE 61, CARROLLTON 46: Carlinville trailed after the first quarter 15-12, but proceeded to outscore Carrollton the rest of the way 49-41 to win at the Carlinville Big House.
Tate Duckles led the Cavaliers with 18 points, while Sawyer Smith had 17 points, and Noah Convery added 12 points.
Carlinville is now 4-2, while the Hawks go to 4-3.
In other games played on Tuesday, Collinsville won at Granite City 44-36, Alton defeated Belleville Althoff Catholic 81-42, Campbell Hill Trico got past New Athens 66-48, Marquette Catholic won at home over Father McGivney Catholic 47-32, Lincoln nipped Belleville West 46-43, It was Freeburg over Waterloo 62-51, Lebanon won over O’Fallon First Baptist Academy 81-27, Jacksonville defeated Civic Memorial 73-53, Belleville East nipped Breese Mater Dei Catholic 66-64 in overtime, and Franklin South County won over Greenfield Northwestern 54-39.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
BUNKER HILL 37, EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 33: Bunker Hill trailed EAWR after the third quarter 26-22, but rallied in the fourth to outscore the Oilers 15-7 to take the win at Jim Hlafka Hall.
Kaylynn Buttry led EAWR with 19 points, while Averi Gilliam added six points.
The Minutemaids won their first game of the year, and are now 1-8, while the Oilers go to 2-8
CALHOUN-BRUSSELS 50, WHITE HALL NORTH GREENE: Calhoun led at halftime 30-16, and went on to the road win at North Greene’s gym.
Brayln Lammy and Anna Eberlin led Calhoun with 14 points Sadie Kiel had 12 points. Other Calhoun scorers were Lizzy Hagen 2, Layla Longnecker 4 and Riley Pohlman 4 points.
Layna Bushnell led the Spartans with seven points, with Sydney Schultz adding on five points.
TRIAD 51, COLLINSVILLE 15: Triad built an 18-0 first quarter lead, and went on to win over Collinsville at Rich Mason Gym.
Abby Gentemann led the Knights with 12 points, while Emerson Guidry added 10 points. The Kahoks were led by Morgan Harris-Golliday’s seven points, while Karly VanDyke had four points.
Triad is now 7-3, while Collinsville is now 1-8.
In the second day of the Waterloo Gibault Catholic Candy Cane Classic, Mehlville, from south St. Louis County, won over Red Bud 46-20, while the host Hawks defeated Metro-East Lutheran 41-24, Marion defeated Cahokia 71-15, Steleville defeated Dupo 47-28, Highland got past Waterloo 60-49, and in a South Central Conference game, Pana defeated Carlinville 60-37.
