CENTRALIA — Cahokia overcame a late-game deficit to defeat Chicago Julian 74-61 in overtime at the 83rd annual Centralia Holiday Tournament on Tuesday.
Cahokia took an early lead, opening the first quarter ahead 17-11. Julian responded in the second quarter, rallying to a 25-24 advantage at halftime. The third quarter saw Julian extend its lead to several points before Cahokia chipped away and entered the final quarter down 43-37.
The fourth quarter featured back-and-forth action as both teams exchanged baskets. In the final minute, Julian missed multiple shots and committed turnovers, allowing Cahokia to capitalize and tie the game, sending it into overtime.
In the extra quarter, Cahokia dominated, outscoring Julian 18-5 to secure the victory.
Cahokia’s offense was led by Taven Miller with 18 points, Corrion Raiford with 17 points, and Zetaveyon Grant with 16 points. Julian’s top scorer was Will Chapman, who tallied 17 points.
