22-year-olds Desintee E. Herzing and Madison M. Tartt, both of Granite City, were charged with one count each of mob action, both Class 4 felonies, on Jan. 15, 2026.

The two are accused of knowingly acting together without legal authority to physically attack the same victim and disturb the public peace on Dec. 7, 2025. Both allegedly struck the victim about the head and body and kicked the individual while they were on the ground.

The Granite City Police Department presented both cases against Herzing and Tartt, both of whom were granted pretrial release from custody.

Three other individuals were charged the day prior on Jan. 14, 2026 by the Edwardsville Police Department with mob action and aggravated battery, including:

  1. Taylor J. Brewer, 27, of Edwardsville

  2. John R. Corso, 23, of Litchfield, Ill.

  3. Samuel E. Painter, 24, of Litchfield, Ill.

All three face Class 3 felony counts of mob action and Class 4 felony counts of aggravated battery in each of the connected cases, which stem from an incident on Dec. 28, 2025.

The three reportedly acted together to strike the same victim about the head and body on Dec. 28, 2025, while the victim was “in the street” in the 130 block of North Main Street in Edwardsville, thereby disturbing the public peace.

Brewer, Corso, and Painter were all ordered released from custody pending trial in each of the cases presented by the Edwardsville Police Department.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
