BLOOMINGTON — Emma Rogers of Edwardsville closed her season with a sixth-place finish at 105 pounds at the IHSA girls state wrestling tournament held over the weekend at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
Rogers’ final match ended in a loss to Annabelle Mueller of Hampshire by technical superiority, 15-0, at 4:52.
Edwardsville also had multiple wrestlers compete who did not place. At 110 pounds, Adleigh Dewerff lost her final match to Norah Cwik of Bartlett by fall at 5:43. At 120, Allie Chong lost her final match to Brynnley Krauchun of Tinley Park Andrew, 8-5. At 115, Genevieve Dykstra lost her last bout to Garcia by fall at 5:08. At 125, Olive Lindhorst lost her last match to O’Connor by fall at 2:36. At 190, Victoria White lost her last match to Razzak by fall at 3:34.
Hampshire won the team title with 86 points. Lockport Township finished second with 65.5 points, Oak Forest was third with 49, the Shells were fourth with 45.5, and Schaumburg rounded out the top five with 42.
Among other area results, Freeburg finished in a three-way tie for 25th with 24 points, while Edwardsville was 38th with 20.5. O’Fallon and Pekin tied for 45th with 17 points each, and Collinsville was 59th with 14. Belleville Althoff Catholic and Granite City were part of a three-way tie for 73rd with seven points each, and Cahokia was 76th with 6.5. Belleville West tied with multiple other teams for 98th with three points each, and Alton tied for 112th with multiple teams, all scoring two points each. Belleville East, Mascoutah, Triad and Waterloo did not score.
Alton’s lone wrestler, Aryanna Jones at 125 pounds, did not place, losing her final match to Molly O’Connor of Lemont by fall at 3:20. Baileigh Self of Belleville Althoff Catholic did not place at 115, losing her final bout by fall to Yazmine Garcia of Chicago Kelly at 3:42. Lamia Irby of Belleville East did not place at 130, losing her final match to Gianna Arzer of Grayslake Central by technical superiority, 18-0, at 3:57.
Granite City’s Brooke Stellhorn at 190 and Riley Weems at 110 did not place. Stellhorn lost her final match to Nadia Razzak of Schaumburg by fall at 2:30, and Weems lost to Sunny Akzemkour of Winnetka New Trier, 10-0.
Cahokia’s Janiylah Holman at 170 and Te’Aja Young at 130 did not place. Holman lost her final match to Caliyah Campbell of Oak Park-River Forest, 12-3, and Young lost to Journey Jackson of Oak Lawn Community, 15-8.
Collinsville’s Addyson Bailey did not place at 135, losing her final bout to Jane Kelly of Gurnee Warren by fall at 1:52. Ivana Torres did not place at 110, losing to Akzemkour in her final match by fall at 2:51. Leann Cory finished sixth at 145, losing her last match by medical forfeit to Ella Giertuga of New Lenox Lincoln-Way Central. Londyn Long did not place at 125, losing her final match to Yariah Shaw of Danville, 10-0.
Waterloo’s lone wrestler, Grace Stratton, did not place at 155, losing her final bout to Allison Garbacz of South Elgin by fall at 3:44. Triad’s Audrey Barnes did not place at 140, losing her final match to Ezra Rodriguez of Minooka, 7-1. Demi Barnes did not place at 120, losing her final match to Riley Depolo of Lincoln-Way Central, 14-4.
Mascoutah’s Jhayla Lawson did not place at 100, losing in her final bout to Kendra Ege of Oregon by technical superiority, 17-0, at 3:25.
