GLEN CARBON — Carson Barone has played a steady role in Father McGivney Catholic’s most successful boys basketball season in program history, and the junior guard is already looking ahead to what comes next.
Barone, a Byron, Carlson, Petri & Kalb Male Athlete of the Month for the Griffins, posted his highest-scoring game of the 2025-26 season with 22 points against North Greene on Jan. 5, 2026. He has been described as a dependable player for McGivney during the season.
“I still have a lot of goals to accomplish,” Barone said. “I want to finish my senior season strong. We have a chance to do something special in my senior year, and we are going to try to do that.”
Barone and the Griffins said they feel confident about making a playoff run in 2026-27.
“We will be excited and confident to get some wins rolling at the beginning of the season, and see where this thing takes us,” Barone said.
Winning is central to Barone’s focus for next season.
“Just winning,” Barone said. “Winning is my number one goal, and whatever I can do to get the team to win is what I’ll do for the team.”
Barone said he is proud of what the Griffins have accomplished in 2025-26, while also pointing to the work ahead in the upcoming summer and next basketball season.
