
Janice L. Hart, 77, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
She was born on August 29, 1948, in DuQuoin, IL, the daughter of William C. and Jewel Pearl (Pierce) Cook. Janice married Kenneth E. Hart in Cahokia, IL, on February 14, 1986. He survives.
Janice was a member and worked for Operating Engineers Local 520. She was in the first female apprentice class. Janice was a member of Delhi Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and making jewelry. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Kenneth, she is survived by her children, Tracy Bird of Sesser, IL, Alex (Jena) Burris of Troy, IL, Natalie (John) Watts of Brighton, IL, and Kimberly Augustine (Boyd McGathey) of Waterloo, IL; grandchildren, Jeremy Elder, Ty Kattenbraker (Alydia Burlison), Cheyenne Oxendine (Jared Gallagher), Hunter Burris, Beau Burris (Mallory Kamp), Nicki Guldner, Tatum Burris, Meghan (Mark) Enskat, John Watts, Michael (Lilly) Augustine, and Jake Augustine; great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Macoy, Malia, Koen, Ivy, and two more on the way; and sisters, Sharon (Chuck) Welch of FL, Kathy Stanton of El Kalle, IL, and Joan (Bob) Malotte of FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Joyce Lucas, other siblings, Norma Swethland, Nancy McClanahan, Ruth Reeves, William Dean Cook, Brian Richard Cook, Robert Dale Cook, and James Leonard Cook.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 1 pm until time of service at 4 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
