Kenneth “Kenny” E. Hart, 80, of Troy, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on January 29, 1946, in East. St. Louis, IL, the son of Earl and Helen G. (York) Hart. Kenny married Janice L. Cook in Cahokia, IL, on February 14, 1986. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2026.
Kenny was a member of and worked for Laborer’s Local 169. He was a member of Delhi Baptist Church. Kenny was also on the Cahokia Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, drawing house plans, and being outside. Most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Natalie (John) Watts of Brighton, IL, Kimberly Augustine (Boyd McGathey) of Waterloo, IL, Tracy Bird of Sessor, IL, and Alex (Jena) Burris of Troy, IL; sisters, Joyce Byrd of Sullivan, MO, and Sharon (Rick) Strickland of Idaho; grandchildren, Meghan (Mark) Enskat, John Watts, Michael (Lilly) Augustine, Jake Augustine, Jeremy Elder, Ty Kattenbraker (Alydia Burlison), Cheyenne Oxendine (Jared Gallagher), Hunter Burris, Beau Burris (Mallory Kamp), Nicki Guldner, and Tatum Burris; and great-grandchildren, Madalynn, Macoy, Malia, Koen, Ivy and two more on the way.
Along with his parents, and wife, Janice, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Hart; son-in-law, Glen Bird; and a brother in-law, Dave Byrd.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 1 pm until time of service at 4 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
