Today’s Weather: Warm, sunny start with a storm chance tonight

Tuesday starts sunny and quiet, with temperatures in the mid-50s early and a light breeze out of the east-northeast. It is a calm start, but the day will warm up quickly after sunrise.

By afternoon, expect mostly sunny skies and a warm push into the low 80s, with a high near 83. A west-southwest wind around 10 to 15 mph will pick up at times, with gusts close to 30 mph. Rain is not likely through the daytime, with only a small chance of a brief shower.

During the evening, clouds will increase and a thunderstorm may pop up in spots. Rain chances rise to about 55 percent tonight, and any downpour could bring gusty wind for a short time. After that, the night turns partly cloudy and quieter.

Overnight, temperatures fall back to around 52 for the low. It may feel a little warmer than the thermometer early this morning, but temperatures and feels like readings should stay fairly close through most of the day.

The allergy index is led by tree pollen, which is high today. Grass, mold and ragweed levels are low.

Wednesday brings a cooler change, with a high near 72 and a low around 46. Expect mostly sunny skies, a breezy north-northwest wind and dry weather through the day and night.
