
Lois Dorothy Reeves, née Yarber, 91, of Belleville, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Lois was a wife, housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on June 7, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL, to Earl and Dorothy Yarber. In 1956, she wed Harlan Norman Reeves and was married to her beloved husband for 53 years until he passed away in 2009.
Before her marriage, Lois was employed at Swift Meats in East St. Louis, IL, where she made lifelong friends. She retired from the Admissions Office of Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL, and from the St. Louis regional office of the Internal Revenue Service. Lois enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading. Above all, she relished having her family and friends gather at her big kitchen table to eat, talk, and share stories.
A faithful member of the parish of St. Peter, Lois will always be remembered for the depth of her devotion to her family, the warmth of her smile, the frequency of her laughter, and the love she gave to everyone she knew.
Lois was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Robert, Lawrence, and Donald Yarber; her son-in-law, Vincent Sparks; and her grandson, Sean Davis.
Lois is survived by her sister, Arlene (Richard) Kukla of Shiloh, IL; her children, Elizabeth Sparks of Menomonee Falls, WI, John (Mary) Reeves of New York City, Joseph (Ruth) Reeves of Troy, IL, Thomas Reeves of Belleville, IL, Laura (Gregory) Stewart of Sarasota, FL, Rita (William) Foster, James Reeves, and Mary Kay (Patrick) Davis, all of Belleville, IL; as well as 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Visitation for Lois will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL.
Final interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
