Robert Rayburn

Robert Leslie Rayburn, 79, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 11:28 a.m. Tues. June 16, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family while under hospice care.

He was born Nov. 6, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to Anna Jewel (Jolly) Agers of Granite City and the late Murray Rayburn.

Robert was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. After his military service, he worked as a Construction Superintendent. Bob was very generous and eager to help anyone in need.  He had a huge heart for charitable organizations. He enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR and had a love of automobiles. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his beloved pets.

He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Rayburn, his dearest friend and longtime companion, Janice Null and her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Michelle Null who were like his own children, 3 brothers, Mike Rayburn, David Agers and Kenneth Agers, 5 sisters, Carol Krull, Vickie Townsend, Ruth Ann Derosa, Betty Sanders and Wanda Schrader, and his close friends and caregivers, Mike Lemons and Amy Davis. The family would like to acknowledge Hannah and the VITAS care team for their loving and supportive care of Robert.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father who raised him, William Nelson Agers and a sister, Debra Barrell.

Memorial visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of memorial services at Noon Sat. June 20, 2026 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be private at a later date at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Granite City APA or any veteran’s organization in Robert’s name.
