Geraldine M. “Gerry” Mersinger, 75, of Troy, IL, born April 10, 1951, in East St. Louis, IL and passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at her home in Troy, IL.
Gerry was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL. She lived in Brush CO for many years just recently moving back to Troy to be closer to her family. She was a schoolteacher sharing her talents in Kayenta, Az and Cortez, CO. Working for the Department of Defense for Dependent Children in Taurus, Turkey, Seoul, Korea and Kaiserslautern, Germany. She enjoyed traveling the world and visiting with her friends. She loved her cats Shebe, Coco and Marley.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian P. and Gertrude E. (nee Loyet) Mersinger; her sister, Cathy Schmoll; niece, Bobbie Jo Mersinger; and her nephews, Justin and Kyle Mersinger.
Surviving are her brothers, Donald (Mary) Mersinger of Mt. Carmel, IL and Joseph (Karen) Mersinger of Troy, IL; nieces and nephews, Nicholas Mersinger of Evansville, IN, John (Amanda) Mersinger of Troy, IL, Sara (Marc) Rothman of Chicago, IL, Katie (Dylan Williamson) Mersinger of Wilsonville, OR and Lynn Mersinger of Brush, CO; great nieces and nephews, Karlee Switzer and Kenzee Mersinger, Aaron, Samantha and Lydia Rothman; and many dear friends.

Funeral Mass will be held 10 am on Tuesday, June 30, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL, with Fr. Kevin Laughery officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Troy, IL.
