EDWARDSVILLE – The Edwardsville Municipal Band continues its summer concert season this Thursday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. The performance, A Tribute to Leroy Anderson, will take place at the Cleaon Etzkorn Bandstand in City Park.
Leroy Anderson is an American composer famous for writing fun, light classical music. His songs are known for catchy rhythms, memorable tunes, and creative sound effects. Thursday’s program highlights his unique style by using everyday objects, like sandpaper and a manual typewriter, alongside traditional band instruments. The program also showcases Jeff Steinheimer, Tom Bruce, and Jaelyn Hudson playing the famous “Bugler’s Holiday.”
Concessions will be available for purchase, helping the Glen Ed Pantry, a local non-profit providing food and services to families.
The concert is completely free to the public. Visitors are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the music in the park. Follow the Edwardsville Municipal Band on Facebook and Instagram for more information and updates.
The following week, the Edwardsville Municipal Band will participate in The American 250 celebration. This historic event will commemorate our nation’s milestone anniversary right here in Edwardsville.
