
JERSEYVILLE – July 2, 2026, marked 15 years since Jared Hanna, a Jerseyville man who was 28 at the time, disappeared without a trace after he was last seen July 2, 2011, in Centralia in Clinton County.
Hanna, a 28-year-old father of two from Jerseyville, was last seen on the morning of July 2, 2011, when he left his home. Later that day, surveillance video captured him purchasing a soft drink at a convenience store before leaving the area. Cell phone records later showed his phone near East Alton around 12:15 p.m. and then near Centralia at approximately 9:30 p.m. before all activity ceased.
Hanna’s white 1990 GMC Sierra truck was also found abandoned on Joliff Bridge Road, according to the information provided. Over the years, several extensive searches have been conducted in the area where the truck was located, with volunteers on ATVs and horseback combing nearby woods and farm fields. No solid leads were uncovered.
Hanna was last seen wearing a T-shirt, jean shorts and tennis shoes. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 195 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He last had a buzz cut. He also has scars on the back of his head and on the right heel of his foot.
Investigators received two reported sightings after Hanna’s disappearance. One motorist reported seeing a man matching his description walking along Jolliff Bridge Road around midnight. Another resident told authorities a man believed to be Hanna knocked on their door around 8:30 a.m. on July 3, asking for a glass of water and directions to Centralia before continuing on foot. Those sightings have never been conclusively confirmed.
