Weekend Weather Brings Dangerous Heat Then Stronger Storm Threats

Friday morning starts mostly sunny and already warm, with temperatures in the upper 70s and light ESE wind around 2 mph. It will not take long to heat up. By afternoon, clouds mix with some sun as humidity builds and scattered thunderstorms develop in spots. The high reaches 94, and it could feel as hot as 106. South-southeast wind stays light near 7 mph, with gusts up to 15 mph. Rain chances rise to 55 percent during the afternoon, and any storm could bring a quick downpour.

Friday evening stays very warm and humid with a storm still possible in parts of the area. Overnight, a few thunderstorms remain in the forecast with a 57 percent chance of rain before things settle late. The low drops to 74 by daybreak Saturday.
