Gregory Mossman, 77, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.
Greg grew up in the Brussels, IL community, graduating from St. Mary’s Grade School and Brussels High School. He went on to attend St. Louis University, where he proudly played a year of baseball, and later earned his Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). Following his education, Greg enjoyed a successful 35-year career as a State Farm Insurance Agent, earnestly serving his policyholders. He was deeply invested in his community, sharing his time and leadership by serving on the Alton School District Board of Education.
An avid outdoorsman, sports enthusiast, and lover of classic cars, Greg was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals and SLU Billikens fan. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the outdoors, turkey and pheasant hunting alongside his sons. Above all his accomplishments, Greg was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a loving brother, and a steady, warm presence. His greatest joy was his family; he took immense pride in watching his legacy grow and was always the proudest supporter in the stands at his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his three beloved sons and their families, Jeff and Amy Mossman of Jacksonville, Illinois, and their sons Bryson, Nolan, Griffin, and Callan; Ryan and Ellen Mossman of Shiloh, Illinois, and their children Blake, Camden, and Addison; Barry and Jennifer Mossman of Town and Country, Missouri, and their children Parker, Tyler, and Olivia.
