EDWARDSVILLE – SIUE softball Head Coach Ben Sorden announced the appointment of Tegan Cortelletti as an assistant coach for the program.
Cortelletti joins the Cougars’ coaching staff after previously serving as an assistant at Boise State and Bowling Green.
“I’ve known Tegan and her family for many years,” said Sorden. “We recruited Tegan when I was at Indiana and then coached against her when she played at Ohio State. An accomplished outfielder and slapper, she will mentor our team to continue our tradition of great outfield play and creating chaos on the bases. Tegan brings great enthusiasm to the field and relates well with student-athletes. Her values align with our program, and we are excited she is joining us.”
She will focus much of her attention on outfielders and slap hitters, having been an accomplished competitor in that realm as an undergraduate at Ohio State.
Playing five seasons at Ohio State from 2019 to 2023, she completed her collegiate career with a .394 batting average, which ranked her fifth in the Big Ten and 11th-best all-time at Ohio State in a single season. Over the span of 180 games that included 118 starting assignments as a Buckeye, she recorded a .451 career on-base percentage.
Cortelletti was a three-time member of the Academic All-Big Ten Conference Team and a two-time NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete.
A native of Hilliard, Ohio, Cortelletti earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from Ohio State in 2023 as well as a master’s degree in sport coaching from Ohio State in 2024.
