Timothy “Tim” Jay Jones Sr., age 65, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 15, 1961, in East St. Louis, IL. Tim was the son of the late Robert Dyer Jones and Norma (Greenwell) Harris.
A proud United States Army veteran, Tim served his country with honor. On December 30, 1979, he married the love of his life, Tina Risinger, in St. Louis, MO. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and lasting memories.
Tim was a faithful member of Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle in Granite City. He found great happiness in the outdoors, whether he was fishing, swimming, riding his Harley, or barbecuing for family and friends. Above all, Tim treasured the time he spent with his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and few things brought him greater joy than spoiling them. His warmth, devotion, and love will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Mathis, brother, Steve Rodgers and his grandson, Austin Ramirez.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Tina Jones of Granite City; his loving children, Shantel (Chris) Wallace, Timothy (Erin) Jones II, and Jonathan Jones, all of Granite City; his dear siblings, Linda Fleming, Barb Young, Vickie Sago, Scott Harris, Robert Jones, Tina Beavin, Connie Campbell, Chris Dasch, Valerie “Punkie” Toth and Randy Rodgers; and his cherished grandchildren, Connor Jones-Pruitt, Liberty Wallace, McKenzie Jones, Kolton Jones, Henry Jones, Ellie Needles, and Serenity Needles. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In celebration of Tim’s life, visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle, 4400 Highway 162, Granite City, Illinois. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor John Norman and Pastor Michael Risinger officiating. Tim will be laid to rest at St. John Cemetery on Marville Road in Granite City, where military honors will be conducted by the United States Army.
