Dennis N. Beckmann, age 78, of Germantown, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at his home.
He was born on August 16, 1948, in Breese, the son of the late Alvin H. and Dolores (nee Schwierjohn) Beckmann.
On April 11, 1970, he married Donna J. Niemann at St. Dominic Church in Breese, and she survives in Germantown.
Dennis is also survived by his daughters, Shanelle (John) Palmer of Aviston and Amye (Lance) Rahden of St. Rose; grandchildren, Jonathan Palmer, Cade (Madison) Breed of Missoula, MT, Avery Rahden and Senya Rahden; sisters, Esther Santel of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jackie (Ron) Maue of Posey; brothers-in-law Ken Niemann, Jim (Mary) Niemann, Joe Niemann and John Henss; sisters-in-law, Lori (Curt) Hemann and Yolanda Niemann.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis (Louis) Kohrman; brothers-in-law, Ollie Santel and Dave Niemann; sister-in-law, Mary Henss and parents-in-law, Bernard and Dolly (nee Kuper) Niemann.
A 1966 graduate of Mater Dei High School, Dennis earned his bachelor’s degree at Rockhurst University, majoring in Business Management. He was initially employed as an audit investigator for the U.S. government food stamp program before switching careers. As a pharmaceutical sales representative to veterinary clinics in southern Illinois, Dennis befriended many veterinarians and their staff. During this time, he was also a real estate agent. From early 2005, until January 2016, he established and operated Southern Illinois Pet Crematory Service (SIPCS) for companion animals and continued manufacturing oak urns for the cremains until April 2026. Deeply rooted in his faith and community, Dennis was a member of St. Boniface Church and served on the Parish Council at St. Francis, Aviston. He also gave back as a Mater Dei High School Board Member and was an active member of both the Germantown Historical Society and Ducks Unlimited.
An avid outdoorsman, Dennis loved hunting, woodworking, playing cards, and simply spending time outside. He spent years mentoring youth by coaching little league girls’ softball, but his greatest joy came from his family and friends. He took immense pride in his family and was always in the stands cheering at his grandchildren’s sporting events. There was never a question who PaPa belonged to since he let everyone know which player or runner was his grandchild. His warmth and generous spirit will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on September 11, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and September 12, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
Funeral Mass will be September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Boniface Church in Germantown. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Mater Dei or the Jared Burke Foundation and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, which is serving the family.
