ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO. — A 45-year-old St. Louis man was charged Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, with two counts of armed criminal action, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, according to St. Louis County Police on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges Aug. 31, 2026, against Kyle Blair, of the 4100 block of Passport Lane. Blair is being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond with no 10% option.
According to the probable cause statement, the incident began about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 27, when the 16-year-old victim was smoking outside his apartment building. Authorities said Blair, described as a neighbor, stepped out of his apartment, yelled racial epithets at the teen and went back inside.
The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office statement said Blair then came out armed with a shotgun, yelled, and fired a shot at the teen. The victim ran through a wooded area to a nearby Phillips 66, where a second victim agreed to walk him back to the apartment, according to the statement.
When they arrived, the two victims saw Blair in the parking lot armed with the shotgun, authorities said. Blair pointed the firearm at them, and they ran and called police, according to the statement. Authorities said Blair fled in a motor vehicle. The victim identified Blair in a photo lineup, and a wanted notice was issued for his arrest, according to the statement. Blair turned himself in to police Aug. 31.
St. Louis County Police Department officers from the South County Precinct are handling the investigation.
Charges are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
