EDWARDSVILLE — Alexa Stock is one of five returning seniors for the Metro-East Lutheran girls volleyball team that has recorded four wins so far this season and appears on track for a productive fall.
Stock, a libero/defensive specialist who led Metro-East Lutheran last season with 292 digs, said in the early season that she was confident in the team for her final season.
“I think our team’s a really strong team this year,” Stock said. “We have five seniors that are all playing pretty well together, and we’ve been together for three years. So, I think this season could be really good.”
Stock is a BJ’s Printables Female Athlete Of The Month for MELHS.
As a returning senior, Stock said she sees her role as helping keep her teammates’ morale up and contributing wherever needed.
“I just want to be vocal,” Stock said. “I just want to be a cheerleader, and help them be the best they can be, and stay in that background well, so they can get some good kills, and get some good sets.”
Stock said she believes Metro-East Lutheran is improving and expressed confidence in the team at this point in the season. She said team play is one of her goals for the season, along with helping her teammates.
“We didn’t lose anybody last year, so we’ve all been playing together for a long time, and these girls are so amazing. I think I just really want to play as a team,” Stock said.
