Sandra “Sandy” Ann Richter (nee Schutzenhofer), 74, of Caseyville, IL, born on November 28, 1951, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away peacefully at her home in Caseyville, IL.
Sandy took great pride in owning and operating the Opera House Restaurant in O’Fallon, a place that became an important part of her life and created countless memories along the way. She loved a good game of bingo and trying her luck at gambling. But above all else, she loved her grandchildren. Being their Maw Maw was one of her greatest joys, and she never missed an opportunity to spoil them.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jo Ann Schutzenhofer (nee Love); her sister, Mary Jo Petraitis; and her best friend, Cindy Luehder.
Left to cherish Sandy’s memory are her beloved husband, Lance Richter of Caseyville, IL; four children, Pam Owens of Fairview Heights, IL, Dawn Kerkemeyer of Caseyville, IL, DJ Kerkemeyer of Caseyville, IL; Robyn (Tim) Kessler of Mascoutah, IL; four grandchildren, Emma Owens, Liam Kerkemeyer, Addie Kessler, Landon Kessler; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Schildknecht Funeral Home; 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269; with Mark Andert officiating. Burial will immediately follow at O’Fallon City Cemetery.
