GLEN CARBON — A 39-year-old Collinsville man died in a multivehicle crash early Thursday morning, Sept. 24, 2026, on westbound Interstate 270 near mile marker 10 in Glen Carbon, Madison County Coroner Nicholas P. Novacich said. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Novacich identified the man as Andrew A. Parcels, who was driving a black GMC Terrain and was its sole occupant.
Authorities were notified through 911 at approximately 4:54 a.m. Madison County Coroner’s Office Investigator Annie Evans responded to the scene and pronounced Parcels dead at 5:52 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026.
The conditions of the other people involved in the crash were unknown. An autopsy will be performed at a later date to help determine the cause and manner of Parcels’ death.
The Illinois State Police, its Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, and the Madison County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville.
