Vivian Narup

Vivian Sue Narup, 61, passed away at 3:14 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the home of her sister, Rita, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Alton, Illinois on October 11, 1965, the daughter of the late Frederick and Martha (Fulkerson) Narup.

Vivian was raised in Calhoun County, where she graduated with the Class of 1983 from Calhoun High School. She continued her education at Robert Morris College, earning an associate degree in business.

For many years, Vivian made her home in Collinsville, Illinois, and was employed as a Regional Business Operations Manager with Ervin Cable.

Vivian had a love for photography and line dancing, but nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with her family and friends. Although she never had children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were hers. She took great pride in being part of their lives, faithfully following their sporting events as they grew up and celebrating their accomplishments along the way.

Anyone who knew Vivian knew she loved a good conversation, especially while she was driving. She was notorious for calling family members just to chit-chat, and whoever was brave enough to answer could count on having someone to talk to for a while. She was equally generous with her advice, offering her thoughts and opinions freely, whether they had been requested or not.

At the heart of everything Vivian did was her desire to make those around her feel loved, valued and included. Family traditions meant a great deal to her, and she made it a priority to preserve them and keep everyone connected. She treasured the simple pleasures in life, including going out for Mexican food with friends and enjoying a good margarita. It was a pleasure her family made sure she could continue enjoying, even in her final days.

Vivian had a way of making her presence known, whether through a phone call, a little unsolicited advice or simply making sure no one felt left out. Above all, she loved her family fiercely, and the memories and traditions she worked so hard to preserve will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Surviving are two brothers, Dennis Narup of Godfrey and Terry Narup of Kampsville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marsha and Randy Mixer of Quincy and Rita and Bill Sievers of Brussels; her nieces and nephews, Kris (Bo) Gresham, Marlinda (Jason) Oden, Marlana (Garry) Howard, Matt McKinnon, Hannah (Kyle) Mixer, Leann (Brandon) Pillars, Megan (Dan) Jenkins and Myra (Brent) Ralston; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Brittany, Olivia, Makayla, Jaylee, Reiken, Lane, Brayden, Morgan, Emma, Dottie, Ellie, Clayton, Chase, Lexi, Alivia and Blakley; and her great-great-nieces, Evelyn, Eleanor, Mia and Beckett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Scott Greding.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2026, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.
