James Annable

James “Jim” A. Annable, age 91, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Jim was born on November 20, 1932, in Wilson, AR, a son of the late Samuel C. Annable and Cora Lee (Woodside) Annable.

Jim was a Korean War Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. On June 27, 1953, Jim married Betty L. Crader, the love of his life in Corinth, MS. Jim owned and operated Discount Auto Parts Store in Madison, IL, for over twenty years. He enjoyed working on cars and was a talented mechanic. Jim was also a member of Johnson Road General Baptist Church and D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans). He will be remembered as a hardworking family man who never met a stranger. Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ring; and by two brothers, Richard Annable and Horace Annable.

He is survived by his devoted wife of seventy-one years, Betty Annable of Granite City, IL; loving son, James E. (Dagmar) Annable of Hamel, IL; dear siblings, Joyce Riley of Karnak, IL, Mary Ida McCarver of Dallas, TX, John Annable of Carbondale, IL and Janice (Aubrey) Farris of Oklahoma; proud grandfather to Kimberly (Guy) Love of Granite City, IL and Jeffrey Annable of Edwardsville, IL; proud great-grandfather to Brendan Love and Aidan Love; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of Jim’s life, his funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Larry Blankley officiating.

Memorial donations may be given to Johnson Road General Baptist Church. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.

Jim will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL, with military honors provided by the United States Army.
