Ellen “Gail” Jacobs, 82, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born June 12, 1942, in Waverly, Tennessee, a daughter of the late William “Pete” and Katie Bell (Page) Pruett. She married the love of her life, William Lee “Bill” Jacobs in Corinth, Mississippi on January 4, 1958, and he survives. Gail retired as a nurse with St. Mary’s Hospital in East St. Louis after 25 years of loving and devoted care to others. She loved to dance, enjoyed her days of bass and fly fishing and cherished many special trips with her daughter. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her daughter, Debbie Jacobs; “adopted” daughter, Denise Lowe of Granite City; sister, Vickie (Pruett) Fry; three brothers, Gene Pruett, Larry Pruett and Danny Pruett; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tack and Rosie Pruett and Ralph and Eva Jacobs; four brothers, Wayne Pruett, Ronnie Pruett, Steve Pruett and Bill Pruett and two sisters, Bonnie Liebold and Betty Atchison. In celebration of her life, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
