Gretta Gail Brown, 88, of Granite City, IL passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 at Granite City Nursing and Rebab.
She was born to the late Thomas and Grace (Fulkerson) Sparks on September 19, 1935 in Uniontown, Kentucky. Gretta was a kind and giving woman. She donated money and food to the animal and homeless shelters and would give you her last dollar if she thought you needed it for a meal. Gretta was a woman of god and loved attending church at Word of Life Tabernacle in Granite City.
Gretta is survived by 2 daughters: Ellen (Dave) Parker of Granite City, IL, Barbara (Terry) Tinsley of Centralia, IL; a son: Darryl (Cindy) Bailey of Granite Ciy, IL; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters: Cathy Jaros, Joyce Badgett, Carla Davis.
Besides her parents, Gretta is preceded in death by her son Steven Bailey; 3 brothers: Jerry Sparks, Jack Sparks, Richard Sparks; and 3 sisters: Jean Lanius, Peggy Bradley, and Betty Purkaple.
A Memorial Service will be held for Gretta on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 11 am at New Creation Fellowship Church, 100 Greenway Drive, Granite City, IL
