Linda Nichols

Linda Ruth Nichols, age 81, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Linda was born on January 14, 1943, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Daniel A. Gaddie and Thelma (Edwards) Gaddie.

On June 24, 1960, Linda Gaddie married Terrell “Terry” E. Nichols, in Granite City, IL., and Terry passed away on August 7, 2007. Linda was a faithful member of Heritage Church in Pontoon Beach, IL. She retired as an administrative clerk from the emergency room department at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL, after over three decades of dedicated service. Linda enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, and listening to 70’s & 80’s classic rock. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a dear friend to many. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Linda will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Gaddie, sister, Judy Miller, and by a grandson, Casey Nichols.

She is survived by her loving children, Naomi (Rich) Siedhoff of Granite City, IL, Danny (Linda Bryant) Nichols of Eldon, MO, Jason (Angie Chism) Nichols of Granite City, IL and David (Andrea) Nichols of McKinney, TX; siblings, Dana (Bill) McGee of Glen Carbon, IL and Brian Gaddie of Granite City, IL; sister-in-law, Rose Gaddie of Granite City, IL; proud grandmother to Meghan (Brian) Soop of Cookeville, TN, Kara (Eric) Engblom of Rochester Hills, MI, A.J (Heather) Siedhoff of Columbia, MO, Michael (Lexi) Nichols of Collinsville, IL, Hannah (Seth) Brendel of Granite City, IL, Hailey (Andrew Holman) Nichols of Granite City, IL, Hollie Nichols of Granite City, IL, Cristian Biddenstadt of McKinney, TX, Yzzy Nichols and Piper Nichols, both of McKinney, TX; proud great-grandmother to Jacob, Nicklaus, Easton, Beckett, Jaylyn, Nolan, Deandre, Zayden, Kylie, Bentley, Mila, Averie, Aura, Adonis and Aksel; nine nieces and nephews; all the families fur babies; long-time family friend, T.J. Hull, loving care-taker, Iva Butler, and extended family and friends. 

In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with the family’s long time family friend and Pastor Greg Dickerman officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
