Pauline D. Squires, 94, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Liberty Village in Maryville. She was born August 20, 1929, in Carlinville, Illinois, a daughter of the late Paul and Alma (Lehmann) Klaus. She married Stanley Squires on September 25, 1948, in Arkansas and he passed away March 6, 2019. Pauline was a devoted member of Dewey Avenue Methodist Church and enjoyed her days of working with ceramics and crafts. She was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Nancy Squires; a son-in-law, Randy Werner; five grandchildren, Angela Sneed, Kerri Yount, Randy Werner Jr., Matthew Werner and William Werner; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Werner; two brothers, Howard Klaus and Raymond Klaus and two sisters, Martha Wyzard and Marjorie Foret. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorials Estates in Glen Carbon.
