Ruth Ann Simpson, 85, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:17 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born March 27, 1938, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Rydgig) Bladdick. She married James “Bud” Simpson on Novembewr 23, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granite City and he passed away August 23, 1988. She worked with the A.R.C.H. House in Granite City, with over 15 years of dedicated service as a cook. Ruth was a dedicated and loving homemaker and enjoyed her years as a volunteer at Gateway Regional Medical Center. She loved family gatherings, playing games with her family and Pinochle with her friends and never missed an opportunity to play Bingo. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Sue Simpson of Glen Carbon and Mike Simpson of Granite City; a daughter, Angie Langford of O’Fallon, Missouri; three grandchildren and their spouses, Matt Simpson of Granite City, Jamie and Jake Page of Kirkwood, Missouri and Sarah and Braden Keller of St. Peters, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Olive, Winter and Iris Page and one on the way, Maylee; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Ted Wasylak of Indian Trail, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Beth Bladdick of Collinsville; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, David and Marilyn Bladdick and Tom Bladdick. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023.
