Linda K. Potter, 77, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023, with her family by her side.
Linda was the daughter of the late Vernis and Vivian Sauls. She grew up in Bethalto, IL until her sophomore year of high school when her family moved to Davenport, IA. She graduated from West High School in 1964 and then moved back to her hometown of Bethalto.
Linda worked many years at Wood River Township Hospital as a unit clerk in the 1970’s and then went on to be the office manager for Dr. Peng nan Wang, MD in the 1980’s. She made her dream come true when she pursued her nursing degree and graduated from LCCC in 1990 as a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed her years of working in local hospitals but also enjoyed cruising and teaching. Linda started with Holland America Cruise Lines as a Medical Officer/RN from 1996-2009. She traveled to 6 of the 7 continents. She never met a stranger and left with a friend wherever she went. Linda also taught from 1999-2007 at North County Tech in St. Louis, where she taught and mentored high school students in the medical field to become proficient as CNA’s. Linda was Mother Advisor for many years from the mid-1980’s until the late 1990’s for the Bethalto Assembly Rainbow Girls and she was a past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Bethalto. She touched many lives and lived her life to the fullest. Linda was the one person everyone would call, and she would be there for them no matter what time of day it was. She loved making memories with her family, spoiling her grandchildren and enjoying time with friends. She always had a smile and a kind word.
Other than her parents, Linda was predeceased by her husband, Earl Potter, and a brother, Charles Sauls.
Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly (Dave) Brown of Granite City; grandson, Riley Brown and granddaughter, Kassidy Brown both of Granite City. Linda and Earl were married for 27 years that created a beautiful, blended family of daughters, Debbie McDonald of Roxana, Portia (Richard) Gordon of Moro, Crystal Potter of St. Louis, Lisa Wojciechowski of Mount Dora, FL; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sisters Vicki (Gary) Cole of Blue Grass, IA, and Penny Alpen of Durant, IA; she will also be dearly missed by her beloved yorkies, Harry and Beatrix Potter and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 pm until 7 pm, Monday, November 27 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where the funeral service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday. Pastor Mark Maynard will officiate.
Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
