Terry Ray Bates Sr., 73, of Granite City, IL passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born to the late Clayburn Bates and Viola (Mcguiness) Kite on April 15, 1950 in East Saint Louis, IL. Terry worked as a machine operator at Cerro Copper and Brass, where he retired after 40 plus years. He loved to spend his free time watching movies and listening to classic music. What he loved most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Terry is survived by 4 daughters: Tracy Rousan, Jenny Bates, Demetria Selimic, Shelly Bates; a son: Terry Bates Jr; 4 grandchildren; Roy Glasco, Danielle Glasco, Alex Cunningham; Heaven (Megan) Kraushaar; 3 great grandchildren; Rylee Glasco, Liam Cox, Ryker Knoll: 2 brothers: John Kite, Robert Bates; 5 sisters: Debbie Soloman, Mary Kusmer, Peggy Bates, Janet Rivera and Nevado Bates; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents; he is preceded in death by 6 brothers; Raymond Bates, Ronnie Bates, Jimmy Kite, Harold Kite Homer Kite Charles Kite; 2 sisters; Roxy Doty, Louis Grant and a sister-in-law: Evelyn Bates.
