Ralph Goestenkors

Ralph E. Goestenkors, age 87 of Highland, IL, died Monday, October 23, 2023, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL.

He was born on Wednesday, March 11, 1936, in Highland, IL, the son of Edward and Alice (nee Oestringer) Goestenkors.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; American Farm Heritage Museum, Greenville, IL; Clinton County Farm Bureau.

Born at Highland, IL; grew up on the family farm SE of Pierron and attended Immaculate Conception Grade School with Father Kunsch as the pastor.  In his youth he worked for Locke Stove, E. St. Louis, IL, for 12 years.  He farmed for many years as a Dairy, cattle and hog farmer.  He retired in the early 2000’s.  He enjoyed bingo, fishing, baking, collecting antique glassware and spending time with his many friends and relatives.

Close Cousin – Phyllis A. Billhartz, Albers, IL

Close Cousin – Jackie Rae (Roger) McFarland, Greenville, IL

Close Cousin – Kenneth L. (Pat) Hempen, Carlyle, IL

Special Friend – Shirley Burns, Breese, IL.

He was preceded in death by:

Father – Edward Goestenkors – Died 6/11/1996

Mother – Alice E. Goestenkors – Died 6/4/1996

Like A Brother – William “Bill” Huelsman – Died 4/19/2017.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, IL. 

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, IL, with Rev. Fr. Paul J. Bonk, Pastor, officiating. 

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pierron, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society;  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; HSHS Hospice; American Farm Heritage Museum.
