Eugene Holubasch

Eugene “Chip” Francis Holubasch, age 62 of Granite City, IL, born June 4, 1960, in West Islip, NY, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023.

Eugene was a former engineer tech for the St. Louis County Highway and Traffic Department.  He enjoyed being outdoors and mushroom hunting.  He loved to listen to KSHE 95, liked to grill, and hang out with his canine companions, Bailey and Laverne. He also enjoyed watching sports and spending time with family and friends.  He was of the Catholic faith and his childhood parish was Mother of Perpetual Help in Maryville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Joseph and Roberta Leona (nee Hoedebecke) Holubasch; two brothers:  Gregory and Mark; and a sister, Peggy.

Surviving is his daughter, Nicole Holubasch, and spouse, Cole Martin, of Troy, IL; two brothers:  George “Ed” Holubasch of Belleville, IL, and Ronny (Sandie) Holubasch of Spokane, WA; two sisters:  Terry (Roger) Cottrell of Center, MO and Mary Holubasch of St. Louis, MO; a sister-in-law, Jamie Holubasch of Livingston, IL; nephews and nieces:  Keith, Renee’, Mariah, Townsend, Kaylee, and Cody.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville. 

Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Rob Johnson as celebrant.  The burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.

Memorials are suggested to Stray Rescue and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
