Ronald Malwitz

Ronald “Max” L. Malwitz, age 86 of Collinsville, IL, born August 24, 1935, in Collinsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. 

Max was a Collinsville High School graduate.  He worked at Brunos Bakery in Collinsville.  He also worked at Venture Store.  He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge in Collinsville and Pinckneyville.  He was an avid softball player, having played until the age of 65, and played on several teams throughout the area and in the Senior Olympics.  One of his highlights was winning 4th in the State tournament with his Horseshoe Sports Bar softball team. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Malwitz and Lena (nee Combetto) Caton. 

Surviving is his wife, Mary Lou (nee Tiemann) Malwitz, whom he married May 24, 1968; four children:  Kevin Milam of Collinsville, IL, Robin (nee Milam) (Gary) Ponce of Maryville, IL, and Patricia (neeMilam) (Eddie) Mumper of Maryville, IL, and Vicky Bennett; six grandchildren:  Eric (Jen) Ponce, Brandon (Jessica) Ponce, Tawni Price and Katie (Kyle) Turner, Herbert, and Ronald; eight great-grandchildren:  Riley, Logan, C.J., Willow, River, Talon, Alyana, and Ashlan. 

Private services will be held. 

Memorials may be made in Max’s honor to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and will be received at the funeral home. Donations may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
