Robert A. Vollmer, age 73 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL.
He was born on Friday, February 06, 1948, in Breese, IL, the son of Lawrence and Mary (nee Meier) Vollmer.
On Friday, October 01, 1976, he married Elizabeth J. “Betty” Vollmer, nee Grapperhaus at St. Augustine Church, Breese, IL, who passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church; American Legion Post #252, Breese, IL; Charter Member of Vietnam Veterans #269, Breese, IL and a Life Time Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Robert was born at Breese, IL. He grew up in the area of Albers and New Baden, IL. He graduated from Wesclin High School, Trenton, IL. Then he joined the United States Army with active duty during the Vietnam War. He later worked for B-Line in Highland, IL, later called Cooper B-Line. He worked as an A-Assembler and retired after 37 years, One of his most favorite things to do was go fishing. He enjoyed fishing with his grandson Kyle and watching wrestling on TV.

(Girlfriend Kylie Olliges) O’Rourke, Highland, IL; Brother – Ivan (Doris) Vollmer, New Baden, IL; Sister – Blanche (Brian) Schwarz, Breese, IL; Sister – Laura (Rich) Kruep, Breese, IL; Sister-in-law – Donna Vollmer, New Baden, IL; Sister-in-law – Shannon Vollmer, New Baden, IL.
He was preceded in death by: Father – Lawrence Robert Vollmer – Died 9/02/1977; Mother – Mary Jane Vollmer, nee Meier – Died 7/24/1982; Wife – Elizabeth J. “Betty” Vollmer, nee Grapperhaus – Died 7/31/2018; Brother – Billy Vollmer – Died 2015; Brother – Bernell J. Vollmer – Died 6/20/2015; Sister – Eva Vollmer.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. Piotr Kosk, Parochial Vicar, St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, officiating.
Private Interment will be Monday, April 26, 2021 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
