Helen M. Evans, 89, of Collinsville and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, with her family at her side.
She was born March 23, 1931, in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of the late John and Eda (Walker) Cox. She married her high school sweetheart, Edward J. Evans on July 1, 1950, in Herrin and he passed away on November 19, 1985.
She retired in 2005 at the age of 73 from Kroger and over 50 years of dedicated service as a grocery clerk. She cherished her family and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with family and her many friends. She is survived by three children, Mark (Christi) Evans of St. Louis and twins, Kim (James) Anderson of Cottage Hills and Kirk Evans of Maryville; son-in-law, Bobby Hearty of Missouri; a grandson, Dylan Naler of Granite City; a great-grandson, Myles Montgomery Naler; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Jenny Lynn Hearty; a sister, Mabel Taylor and three brothers, Paul, Walt and Leonard Cox.
In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, February 19, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.
