Mary D. McKinnon, age 94, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Wesley Village in Macomb, IL. Mary was born on June 1, 1926 in Springfield, IL, a daughter of the late Estia Brown and Sophia (Voss) Brown.
On March 23, 1945, Mary Brown and Dorse “Mac” McKinnon were married in San Diego, CA and Mac passed away on July 23, 2014. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a friend to many. She was also a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Mary was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City and a 50 year member of the Mitchell Bunco Club. She served in the war effort at the Granite City Army Depot and her and her husband were well known business owners in the Granite City area. Mary loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Richard McKinnon and by her siblings, Donald Brown, Doris Brown and Rita Wideman.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Cynthia Martin and Peggy “Peg” McKinnon both of Mitchell, IL; proud grandmother to Dr. Amy (Matthias) Waschull of Macomb, IL and Stacy Martin of Plymouth, IL; proud great-grandmother to Dallas (Randallynn) Norman, Cecelia Norman, Keir Sullivan and Mack Waschull; brother, William Brown; dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, a private graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of McDonough County.
