Mary Weldon

Mary Ella Weldon, 88, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 at her home.  She was born July 3, 1932 in Naylor, Missouri, a daughter of the late Andrew and Iva Pearl Duff.  She married A.C. Weldon on May 27, 1950 in Osceola, Arkansas and he passed away on August 21, 1991.  She was a barmaid at Lenny’s in Granite City with 28 years of great memories and friends.  She enjoyed her days of fishing, enjoyed flowers and was always ready to socialize and have a great time with friends and family.  She will be remembered for the love and special times she shared with her family and friends.  She is survived by a son, Jerry Weldon of Granite City, Illinois; four daughters, Mary (Sam) Borgman of Mountain View, Missouri, Janice (Billie) McKee of Plainview, Illinois, Joan (Brian) Moesner of Oldfield, Missouri and Deborah Jo (Dewayne) Elam of Vandalia, Illinois; thirty-three grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; a sister, Diane Jones of Fairdealing, Missouri; a brother, John (Barbara) Duff of Granite City; special friend and companion, Nancy Peters of Granite City, Illinois; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.  In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, A.C. Weldon Jr. and Jackie Lynn Weldon; a great grandson, Slayton Roth McGovern; a brother, Neal Duff and three sisters, Winifred Bailey, Velma Wilson and Pauline Lewis.  In celebration of her life, a graveside service will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.  Memorials may be made to the Weldon family or to a charity of one’s choice and may be accepted at the funeral home.  Irwin Chapel of Granite City in charge of arrangements.  www.irwinchapel.com
