Dorothy Nell McCoy, 95, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City. She was born July 4, 1925 in Murray, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William Dempsey and Lois Ellen (Kirk) Jones. She married Grover McCoy in 1947 and he passed away on November 19, 1986. She retired from Midwest Window in St. Louis after many years of dedicated service as a maker of draperies. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Granite City and enjoyed her days of shopping and sewing. She cherished her grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Donna McCoy and Cathy “Sue” Culpepper; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jenny and Joe Miller, Carrie and Scott Morton and Tim and Elizabeth McCoy; fourteen great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; a sister, Faye Hull; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary McCoy; a son-in-law, Jerry Culpepper; a sister, Mary Cuppett and two brothers, Billy Gene and Robert Jones. In celebration of her life, a private visitation and funeral service will be held at Irwin Chapel in Granite City on Friday, August 7, 2020 with Reverend Brian Smith officiating.
