Ruthann M. Thomas, 72, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020. She was born November 18, 1947, a daughter of the late Edward and Martha (Severs) Toedtli. She married Joseph S. Thomas on June 10, 1966 in St. Louis, Missouri and he passed away on January 8, 2014. She retired from the State of Missouri after 30 years of dedicated service as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the St. Louis Developmental Disabilities Treatment Centers. Ruthann enjoyed her days of fishing, playing bingo and bowling. Ruthann bowled many years Woman’s Bowling Association on many leagues and teams including the Sunday Night Mixed, Early at Last, Almost 10, Granny Bowl, Sunday Twilights and the Alley Cats. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Toedtli and husband, Salvador of Carbondale and Melissa Marsh and husband, James of Granite City; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph “Joey” Thomas III and a grandson, Joshua Medlock. In celebration of life, a private visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel in Granite City on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Private funeral services will be held at Irwin Chapel on Friday, July 31 with Reverend Greg Dickerman officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
