Frederick Gordon Mueller, 78, of Granite City, Illinois passed away 10:20 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Fountain View Manor in Granite City, Illinois. He was born May 18, 1941 in East St. Louis, Illinois, a son of the late Frederick G. Mueller and Gladys A. (Warning) Mueller. He married Gail E. (Hamilos) Mueller on June 10, 1972 and she survives. Gordon retired from the Granite City School District #9 after many years of service as a speech and English teacher. He had attended New Bethel United Methodist Church in Glen Carbon. He was a member of the National Forensic League and the International Thespians Association and enjoyed helping students throughout the years. He was also a member of the Illinois Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers. In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 48 years, he is survived by several cousins; other extended family and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Duke H. Mueller.
Gordon deserves a beautiful tribute. However, during these uncertain days, a private family service will be held. A celebration of life will be held later when we all can come together once again. In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to New Bethel United Methodist Church, Renee’s Rescue or to the Lahr-Well Christian Academy and may be accepted at the funeral home.
