James A. Apken, age 91 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, August 06, 2019, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL.
He was born on August 22, 1927, in Highland, IL, the son of Albert and Coletta (nee Weber) Apken.
He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. He was also a member of VFW Post #5694 Highland, IL.
Born and raised in Highland, IL; graduated from St. Paul High School, HIghland, IL, in 1945. Served with the US Navy, active duty from June 1945 to July 1946, during WWII. Graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, MO, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, in Sept. of 1949. For many years he owned and operated Apken Accounting Services, Highland, IL, doing local businesses book work. He enjoyed golf, classical music and history.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL .
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Father Adam Zawadzki officiating.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Area Community FoundationHospice of Southern Illinois.
