Joan M. Jackson, 87, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 8:41 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City. She was born April 19, 1932 in East St. Louis, a daughter of the late Leslie and Lenora (Burke) Montague. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, John D. Jackson, Jim M. Jackson and Gene E. Jackson; three sisters, Jackie Szymarek, Margaret Domicick and Dorothy Slaughter and a brother, Richard Montague. She is survived by a son, George L. Jackson Jr. of Granite City; a daughter, Judy K. Merritt of Pontoon Beach; six grandchildren, Michael D. Jackson, Christopher G. Jackson, Amanda Merritt, Nicholas Jackson, Jason Jackson and Mark Jackson; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Blackshear of Granite City and Sandy Coleman of Granite City; a brother, Michael D. Montague of Phoenix, Arizona; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow.
