Andrew “Andy” Marczak, 68 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at John Cochran Veterans Hospital.
Andrew was born on July 5, 1950 in Edwardsville, Illinois; the son of the late John and Julia “Julie”(Kondrich) Marczak. Andrew was a janitor at Edwardsville High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Andrew will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
Andrew is survived by and will be missed by his son; Shane Marczak and (Megan Bloodworth) of Granite City; grandchildren, Michael Ellingwood, Mathew Ellingwood, Madalynn Ellingwood; brother, John Marczak; sister-in-law, Nancy Marczak.
In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his wife; Debra (Bridges) Marczak; his brother Bob and sisters, Rosemary and Helen.
In celebration of Andrew’s life, visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating.
Burial will follow with military rites at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
