Floyd Williams

Floyd V. Williams Jr., 94 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Floyd was born on July 30, 1924 in Granite City, Illinois; the son of the late Floyd V. and Florence (Minton) Williams Sr. Floyd work in supply at the Granite City Army Depot and proudly served his country in the United States Army earning the rank of Sergeant. After the Granite City Army Depot closed, Floyd went on to work at Washington Universities ROTC program.

Floyd is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Betty (Barnes) Williams, whom he married on April 19, 1947; a great-niece, Rochelle (Darren) Henderson of Edwardsville, Illinois; nephew, Robert Williams of Georgia.

In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his brother, Farlin Williams.

In celebration of Floyd’s life a visitation will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. A private burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
