Wilma McQuinney

Wilma J. McQuinney, 91, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.  She was born September 16, 1926 in Granite City, a daughter of the late George and Minnie (Schillinger) Pike.  She married Kenneth L. McQuinney on June 15, 1945 at St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City and he passed away on April 28, 2007.  Wilma was a dedicated and loving homemaker whom cherished her grandchildren.  She was a faithful member of St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City where she was a member of the Women’s Guild and had served many years as a Girl Scout leader.  She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Walter Schmidt of Granite City; two grandchildren, Kevin Schmidt and Kelly Hassell of Granite City; five great grandchildren, Jordan Slay, Jaelyn Brown, Jeffery Brown, Jace Brown and Ethan Alexander; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to Wilma’s parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Pike Jr.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rich Alexander officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
