Shirley D. Smith, 65, passed away at 11:55pm on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born on January 7, 1949, in Jerseyville, Illinois the daughter of Leota (Ayres) Wittman of Jerseyville and the late Leo Wittman. Survivors include three daughters and a son in law: Tina Smith of Cottage Hills, Michelle Saffel of Rockford, Illinois, Connie and Randy Hannis of South Roxana, one son: David Smith of Collinsville, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters and brothers in law: Linda and Denny Perkinson of Delhi, Donna and Marvin Tuetkin of Jerseyville, Kim and Dave Willis of Delhi, three brothers and a sister in law: Gary Wittman of Jerseyville, Sig Wittman of Jerseyville, Jeff and Deb Wittman of Springfield, Illinois, her friend: Kim Stevenson of Collinville, Kim’s daughter: Kristina Stevenson of Collinsville, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other extended family and friends.
She was formerly employed at Eden Village in Glen Carbon as a CNA. She enjoyed crocheting and animals.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandson: Thomas Saffel.
In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 5pm until time of memorial services at 7pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Ricky Ham will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
