Jean Thompson

Jean Thompson, age 91, of Shiloh, IL, born on October 12, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, died on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Shiloh, IL, at her residence.

Jean was a former department manager at Venture Store in Fairview Heights for 25 years and then went on to work at Old Time Pottery until the age of 85. She was also deeply involved in Girl Scouts for most of her youth and eventually became a troop leader for many years. She was also a member of the Women’s Workers Union Local #432. Jean was a loving, giving mom and loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren deeply, affectionately known as “Grandma’s babies”. She will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles E. “Dutch” Thompson; her daughter, Charlene Boehm; her parents, John and Delphine, nee Mays Paulik; her siblings, Gloria Murray, Bob Paulik, Jackie Paulik, Sr., Patsy Boismenue, Donald “Jimmy” Paulik and Maryann Elmore; and her son-in-law, James Boehm.

Jean is survived by her children, Charles E. (Cathy) Thompson of Collinsville, IL, Rachelle (Patrick) McCarthy of Fairview Heights, IL, Rodney (Susan) Thompson of Willow Springs, MO, Steve Adams of Belleville, IL, and an “adopted daughter”, Melody (Dan) Seckel of St. Louis, MO; 9 grandchildren, Chez Thompson, Chad Thompson, Jimmie Boehm, Meghan McCarthy, Ryan McCarthy, Danielle (Dillian) Goforth, Zachary Thompson, Hailey Thompson, and Jack Thompson; 2 great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Levi Goforth; siblings, her twin sister Jeannette Hampton of Fairview Heights, IL, Kay “Cookie” Sanders of O’Fallon, IL, and Diane Paulik of California.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or at www.lovetotherescue.org.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd. Fairview Heights, IL, with Pastor Doug Munton officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
